Just under two minutes remained in the fourth quarter of Saturday's game between Boston College and Holy Cross when the unthinkable happened at Alumni Stadium. The rugged, tough, physical football game between two historic rivals caromed towards a classic ending, but ominous clouds, the kind that rolled into Greater Boston a few minutes earlier, wandered a little too close to the Chestnut Hill area. A darkness befell the skies, and a flashing bolt stole the attention with its loud, unmistakable thunderclap.

The Crusaders' punching chance would have to wait. The well-known reports of thunderstorms in the area finally reached Boston, and Mother Nature, the one player not in uniform, temporarily put the climactic ending to the latest chapter of the storied rivalry on hold.
